For a dramatic effect, the homepage has a large fit-to-screen image as a backdrop.

In a three column grid, the right column will have a newsfeed where all of Ann's tweets, images, videos, and news will be posted in chronological order. Users can sort the newsfeed by category using tabs at the top. When a mouse hovers over the newsfeed, comment and "like" icons will appear next to each post.

Every time Ann posts something to the site, the area below the category tabs will say her location, temperature, and elevation, as a fun extra.

Photos and videos can be enlarged in a lightbox when the user clicks on them from the newsfeed.

The footer is the black bar at the bottom of the page, which can be carried throughout the rest of the site as well. It holds the large red donation button, a testimonial quote which changes every time the screen reloads, and social media icons.

(The media page is coming soon, so be sure to check back!)

this is very simple and lovely Diana. I'm jealous. I love the way the new info layers elegantly on top of the current site.

Loving it - the large fit-to-screen image really involves one emotionally. Does the background image change when clicking through the main navigation?
Like how you implemented the twitter and facebook as well as the donation option. What about making the different medias that reported on her more visible? Is there an intro video where she speaks about her motivation, her expeditions, anything more personal? Great approach, caaaaan't wait to see more!

    Diana,

Your functionality is great. I love how "current" the site stays, with lots of content revolving continuously.

One suggestion I've got is that as a first-time visitor to the site (as I assume the vast majority of visitors will be), it would be helpful to have one static visual that tells her story. Whether it's a text box or a video that stays static somewhere prominent on the page and pulls visitoros into clicking on other content and ultimately the donate button.

Again, I think you've got a great design. Good job!

    Hey DianaL,
here you go with Ann's feedback on your submission:

Like the simpleness of the site and again it's kept up to date by the feeds. A like button is good as the sponsors look for this. I agree that a static message on the expedition and who I am is essential for the new viewer but otherwise I like it. It would be nice to add the thin scrolling line of testimonies from my speaking jobs. Perhaps a photo of my face and eyes so people can see who I am.

Great updates! Love how you implemented the different media and placed Ann's pic in a discrete but still prominent way - beautiful!
